When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
I’m certainly ready to learn some more so each week I will release a short 5-10 minute interview with an angel investor.
The first is with Tim Jackson, a former journalist, turned entrepreneurs, turned angel investor and the second is with Sam Gellman, who was employee #1 in Europe and #1 in Asia for Uber.
During this series of mini-interviews I want to get to the bottom of why angel investors invest — I want to find out their true motivations, tips and tactics behind the decisions they make.
What classes someone as an angel investor? Someone who has put their own hard-earned cash into a startup venture. They’ve signed the cheque or pushed the button on the wire transfer from their personal account to the startup’s.
These interviews will be behind the SubStack paywall so only available to those who are paid subscribers. The cost is $50 per year, so that’s around $1 per interview.
Why charge? I’ve learned from 9others to charge the people that I serve. In that case it’s charging the entrepreneurs to come to meals with 9others — it makes me focus on delivering value to them and not getting distracted trying to fund the meals in other ways. It’s the same here. If, like me, you’re seeking to contribute, learn and maybe invest in startups then I want to serve you with some incredible insights from some remarkable people.
My aim with these angel investor interviews and the (free) written posts around them is to serve the people who want to learn about angel investing. And of course in doing that I’ll hopefully become a better one myself.
