Save yourself from dying of ulcers
I often say to founders that, until things really have to get serious, they should take a leaf out of David Ogilvy’s approach to winning clients (which also applies to getting investment or recruiting new team members) and approach things with “light-hearted gusto”1.
Similarly, in the seemingly serious world of business it’s good to remind oneself to seek out the ridiculous, the daft and the weird stuff that makes you laugh. We’re all just grown up kids figuring all this out as we go so, as a note to myself more than anything else, don’t take yourself so seriously.
